Dinner last nite!

Dinners have a way of starting out early in the morning and then lasting till the morning after...at least mine do!
Its not easy to feed and make happy some half a dozen 20 something boys...especially when they are looking forward to a home cooked meal after days away from family! But its also the most satisfying...coz they make it all worth it by lapping it all up...happy me!
Rajma Chawal, masala gobi, egg masala, jeera raita and roti...finished making it all just in time...the rain almost got our dinner cancelled but am glad they made it. so like i said, started preparing in the morning and my returned the favour once i crawled into bed well past midnight by punishing me for spending the entire day and the better half of the nite on them.
Thank God for a darling husband...who woke me up with some hot steaming tea that took away whatever tiredness the sleep could not.
All in all...happy and yeah...no cooking dinner today, coz the left overs will work just fine...besides, i donno about you but i cant eat when i do all that cooking in a day

More soon!

Phew!! Am back

What a life its been...I came back to this blog of mine today after more than 3 years...and actually a bit surprised it still exists!
Had the urge to write to myself again :-) so the first thing i did was read what i wrote in 2008...whatever it is that I had planned, wanted, asked for came to me...even though I had long forgotten all about it. So full of gratitude...

I have had countless moments of joy with my niece who is now almost 5, a nephew whose 2.5...My darling friend is back in India with both her babies and husband...and life has been nothing short of perfect for me! Hell...I even got married last year...LOL!

I think that's mostly why I chose to rename my blog to "The Second Life"...it does seem like another life...so much is so different between then and now! Hopefully, I wont be taking 3 year breaks between writing my posts like I did then and will be sharing my love for baking, all things food, what its like to be married to your best friend, travel and dogs as often as I can...

Cheers to the beginning of The Second Life!!!!

Bhavana's Birthday- 26 August

Yeah..I know I'm late..nevertheless...
Wished her in the morning and spoke to her later during the day. It's so incredible, sometimes I think, how people who live so far away from each other and haven't met for years now, can connect so wonderfully without any effort.
We are childhood friends but so far apart now, what with her settled in Australia for good and me here in Bombay. Its not about making the effort to stay in touch, its more about being able to stay connected even though none of us ever had the time to stay in touch. I am so glad we have kept it going.

I have to be honest, I worried about her many a times, when I was too far away to see how she was doing, and yet too close to know without any words that all was not well. I know she thought of me too..
There is something about her, which I think has been her pillar of strength throughout..her determination to make things happen. She has and I love her spirit. I wish that it grows and strengthens further. I know life is looking up for her..she has a lovely baby boy- Aryan, who she cant get enough of...and why not!
I heard in her voice the quiet pride of a mother, who knows that she is the world for her little baby, who cant think of anything other than mommy :-).

I want pictures..haven't seen him yet. But well, mommy will send only when she finds the time to..or maybe I will get a chance to go see them both before that happens..LOL!
Anyway, I gotta go write them letters now...Cheerio!

I don't like being Sick

It's Day 3 today, that I am in bed, ill. I don't like being sick :-(

I came back to Bombay on Sunday nite, I had to start work on Monday morning..but well..this horrible horrible allergy and a viral fever, have kept me bedridden since then.

This is so unfair, if I had to fall so sick, why could it not happen while I was still in Delhi? At least I'd have been home and taken care of. I don't like being sick and I really think I have had more than my fair share of it this year.

Gotta be at work early tomorrow, there is so much that I need to complete and wind up before I leave at the end of September, and it almost seems like its here already. Think I'm going to go have a cup of coffee now! Ahhh!!!! can already smell the aroma.
Cant wait...

The Road Ahead

Its one of those times in life when I know I am right in the middle of an interesting play of events. So many roads to take and each as good as the other! I know the direction I want to take and that knowledge brings with it a sense of relief.
I am not lost anymore :-)

Came back from a lovely vacation just a couple of days ago! It was perfect..beautiful beaches and lush green mountains spread as far as the eye can see..and my Best Friend to share all this joy with. Then some time at home, with my little niece- such an adorable darling! me doggie, mommy and everyone else.

Looking at her made me realise what a loss it has been to live away from home. I wasnt there to see her first real smile, dint click a pic of her first step, no joys experienced of seeing her splash around in her own little bath tub...but all that is about to change now.

I am heading back home..soon! and so looking forward to it. Its like starting a new life all over again. So many exciting possibilities showing themselves to lure me back and Oh I am sold :-)

Guess there will be more later...but soon :-)
